The New England Park Association, which has its origins in the New England Association of Park Superintendents, was founded in Boston in 1898. The purpose of the organization is to advance the theory and practice of the proper development, maintenance and administration of park and recreation areas and programs, the professional improvement of its members and the development of an improved public relations policy. Membership is open to professional, executive and supervisory level managers of park systems and related fields who exhibit an interest in contributing to the purpose of the Association, and have been a member in good standing for two years.
The New England Park Association has established this scholarship program to further promote the park profession and its related areas. The scholarship awards shall be in the amount of up to $500 per person. The program is open to any member of NEPA.
Selection of the awards will be based on financial need and on a written statement confirming this need. Interested applicants should complete the form (in Adobe PDF format) and return it to Mr. Jeff Maron, Wickham Park, 1329 West Middle Turnpike, Manchester, CT 06040.
The successful candidate shall provide the NEPA with documentation of all course/school costs in the receipts for tuition, registration, lodging, transportation, etc. upon receipt of this information a check not to exceed $500 will be mailed directly to the applicant at the address provided on the application. The recipient will be required to complete one of the following:
Report on the course/school at a NEPA meeting
Write a report for the newsletter
Provide a video on school for NEPA video library
The scholarship will be on a reimbursement basis and the deadline for applications is March 1. Scholarships are awarded by April 1st of each year.
